The benefits of tree inspections

There are a number of ways in which trees can pose a health and safety risk to both property and people.  Damage to property can include:

  • Subsidence caused by roots. This can result in damage to the exterior or interior of buildings (usually visible in the forms of cracks).
  • Damage to roofs caused by overhanging canopies and branches.
  • Cracks in and uprooting of driveways, pathways and other exterior areas.

If trees are not properly maintained and inspected for damage, decay, fungus and dead wood, there is also the danger of falling branches or even the entire tree toppling.  As a result, they can pose a major risk to anything or anyone in their path.

Regular tree inspections, carried out by experienced tree specialists like ourselves, can help give you peace of mind.

What does a tree inspection involve?

We begin by visiting your property or site to survey every tree that is on and within influencing distance.  We collect a range of information, such as:

  • Species
  • Height (m)
  • Stem diameter (mm)
  • Branch spread (m)
  • Life stage
  • Physiological condition
  • Structural condition
  • Risk factor

The main purpose of this is to identify the quality of trees on the site and how far their canopies extend. This assessment, which uses a PTI (Professional Tree Inspection) framework, will look at the condition of the trees, noting any significant defects.

We’ll then produce a comprehensive report outlining our findings.  This involves using Quantified Tree Risk Assessment (QTRA) methodology to calculate the risk of harm that each tree poses.  All the data is plotted on a clear, detailed plan.
